Funeral services for Monroe Nelson Fite, age 88, of Saltillo, have been set for 11:00AM, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Tapp Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Friday officiating. Interment will follow in Stout's Creek Cemetery with Bobby Hankins, Joe Minick, Danny Mitchell, Don Mitchell and Rick Garmon serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbears are Welcome Gene Barnett and John Henry Beadle. A visitation will be held at Tapp Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
Monroe Nelson Fite was born on March 3, 1924 the son of G. W. "Tobe" and Eva L. "Nettie" Bumpas Fite in Hopkins County. He married Mary Evelyn Mitchell in Brinker on November 28, 1948. She preceded him in death in January of 2009. He was a farmer and a steel worker. He was a member of Weaver Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force in WWII.
Survivors include, sons, Jeff Fite, and wife, Diane, and Jerry Vance Fite, and wife, Vannoy, both of Saltillo; grandchildren, Laura Patriquin, Ashley McGill, Lin Reynolds, Colleen Hoover, Amber Hoenshell; ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marny Suzanne Green; son, Joseph Mitchell Fite; grandson, Ronald Jason Green; brother, Lex Fite; sister, Lucille Gibson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stout's Creek Cemetery.
