Linnie Newsome

Funeral services for Linnie Newsome, age 104, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11:00am, Monday March 21, 2011 at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Tomlinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenview Cemetery with Bart Penny, Randy Penny, Terry Penny, Michael Ferguson, James Wilson, and Erin Wilson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Linnie Newsome passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. She was born in Palo Pinto County on October 6, 1906 the daughter of Dave and Lindy Chadwick Holmes. She married Elmer Newsome on November 26, 1926 in Hopkins County. He preceded her in death in 1947. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: daughters, Vernice Penny and husband, William, of Sulphur Springs, Betty Ferguson and husband, Celo of Sulphur Springs, and Glenzell Hawkins of Leonard; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, W. B. Newsome and Cecil Newsome, three sisters and eight brothers.
