James Pool

Military Graveside Funeral services under the direction of Hopkins County Military Coalitions for James L. "Honey" Pool, age 89 of Sulphur Springs will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Greenpond Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the Greenpond Baptist Church.


James Loyd Pool passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Mt. Vernon on August 8, 1921 the son of Will and Lizzie Pool. He married Lena Mae Thornton on September 29, 1940 in Mt. Vernon. She preceded him in death in December 1995. He was of the Baptist Faith and served in the United States Army during WW II.


Survivors include, sons, James Pool and wife, Kim of Sulphur Springs, and Jerry Dean McCord of Ft. Stockton; grandchildren, Patricia Dorman, John Pool, Paula Freeman, Jennifer Mitchelle, and Jerry Lee McCord; great-grandchildren, Staci Clayton, Amanda Adams, Jessica Harrison, and Kadi McCord; several great-great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by parents, wife, son, Aubrey Pool, grandson, James Michael Pool, three brothers and four sisters.
