Funeral services for Jacky Ray Wilks, age 61, of Hopkins County have been scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, December 31, 2010 at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Gafford Chapel Cemetery with David Gulley, Mike Swindell, Johnny Brandon, Jimmy Gafford, Larry Mead, Rodney Caudle, Jerry Wayne Petty, Colton Wilks, and Brian Pennington serving as pallbearers. A visitation will be held at Tapp Funeral Home on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Jacky Ray Wilks was born July 20, 1949, in Sulphur Springs, the son on Euel and Gladys Duffer Wilks. He was a self employed painter and was of the Church of Christ faith. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. In honor of his service, the Hopkins County Military Coalition will perform Military Graveside rites. Mr. Wilks passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the Memorial Hospital of Sulphur Springs.
Survivors include daughters, Candice Mead, and husband, Nick, of Sulphur Springs, Shonda Darr, and husband, Darwin, of Tyler; mother, Gladys Wesson, of Sulphur Springs; brother, Ricky Wilks, and wife, Melanie, of Sulphur Springs; sisters, Janet Mabry, and husband, Roger, of Brashear, Judy Lawrence, and husband, Floyd, of McKinney; and one grandchild, Cullen Darr.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Kenneth Wilks; and stepfather, Buford Wesson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hopkins County Veteran's Memorial at P.O. Box 533, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75483.
