Funeral services for Helen Francis Alford, age 101, of Sulphur Springs, have been scheduled for 2:00PM, Sunday, June 10, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Pete Adrian and Reverend Debbie Rigsby officiating, and Reverend Charles Moore assisting. Interment will follow in Forest Academy Cemetery with Brandon Alford, Brent Alford, Toby Parker, John Lewis, Jim Lewis and Keith Gray serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Charlie Charles and Butch Jones. Visitation has been scheduled for Saturday June 9, 2012 at Tapp Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Helen Alford was born on February 14, 1911, in Como Texas, the Daughter of William Hugh Lewis and Mary (Patman) Lewis. She married Marcus Alford in Jefferson, TX in 1938. Mrs. Alford was a school teacher in the early 1930's. She was also a seamstress at Ike Clark MFG., Munves Dress Factory and she retired from H.D. Lee Co. She spent her retired years honing her crafting skills and spending time with family. She has been a member of The First United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs since 1949. She will be missed by the many lives she touched.
Survivors include, son, Bill Alford, and wife, Nina, of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Dr. Brent Alford, and wife, Laura, Brandon Alford, and wife, Dalia and Amy Parker, and husband, Toby; great-grandchildren Hana Alford, Tommy Alford, Michael Alford, Elijah Alford, Sam Alford, Ben Alford, Jack Parker and Grace Parker. She was preceded in death by Husband Marcus; son, Thomas Lewis Alford; sister, Grace Lewis; two brothers, Leon Lewis and Clyde Lewis; and parents Clyde and Mary Lewis.
