Funeral services for Dorothy Whittington, age 86, of Sulphur Springs, will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Savage officiating. Interment will follow at City Cemetery with Jim Thompson, Sanford Whittington, Jr., Fielder Whittington and David Whittington serving as pallbearers. .
Dorothy passed away, May 31, 2016 at Advanced Healthcare and Rehab Center in Garland. She was born the daughter of Roy E. Fielder and Mabel Emma (Riggle) Fielder on March 14, 1930 in Gage, OK. She married Sanford Allen Whittington on October 8, 1964 in Dallas. He preceded her in death in 2004. She was an artist and a member of the League Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Whittington and Barbara Hart Whittington both of Rockwall, TX and Carolyn Whittington of Oak Point, TX. ; two sons, Sanford Whittington, Jr. of Oak Point, TX and David Whittington of Rockwall, TX; four grandchildren, Lana Whittington, Fielder Whittington, Renee DuMont and Jess Carpenter; one great granddaughter, Amyah Carpenter; and one sister, Lucile Laird.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Neva Hall and Margorie Wilkinson; and two brothers, Robert Fielder and Lewis Fielder.
