Graveside service for Clara Lou Goodson Hill, age 87, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Pine Hill Cemetery with Rev. Edgar Clements officiating and Jack Sims, Michael Gunn, Tony Coffman, Joe Don Joslin, David Joslin, Asa Joslin and Jerry Denton serving as pallbearers and Charlie Hill, Brandon Cockrell, Cody Cockrell, Larry Case and Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab serving as honorary pallbearers. There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. Hill passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab, Sulphur Springs, TX.
Clara Lou was born on September 11, 1932 in Mt. Vernon to Charlie and Marie Goodson. She married LaDale Hill on January 17, 1975 in Quitman. In her younger days, Clara, worked at HD Lee’s manufacturing, Terry’s Restaurant, a Nurse Aide at Hopkins Co. Nursing Home and at the Candy Factory in Sulphur Springs before becoming a homemaker. She loved to cook, garden, and loved her cows but most of all, she loved to entertain everybody. She traveled many miles to dance for anybody that would make a sound of music. Clara loved to talk to anyone that would talk to her. She loved to holler “Howdeey!”to the guys at the North Side Fire Station. She loved her grandchildren and great grands but most of all she loved her best friend and husband, LaDale. Clara was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by her children, Dewayne Cockrell and wife, Billie, Rita Greer and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Charlie (Tex) Hill and wife Racheal, Susan Hill Mooney and husband, John, Brandon Cockrell, Cody Cockrell and wife, Amanda, Amberly Greer; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Albert Dewitt.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; son, Henry Hill.
